On Wednesday 30/3, the day The European Commission publishes its ‘EU Strategy for Textiles’ as part of the European 2050 Green Deal, circular fashion pioneer, DEPLOY will launch the Brussels Sustainable Fashion Forum as part of its ‘Changemakers Series’ global event programme at The Holland House, adjacent to The European Commission in central Brussels.

In collaboration with FIPRA International Green Transition for this inaugural event: ‘ROADMAP FOR FASHION SUSTAINABILITY: Making an Impact One Garment at a Time’, DEPLOY takes its strategic action plan to reform the fashion system to new heights, gathering systemic changemakers from private sectors and public institutions at this forum to charter a holistic sustainability roadmap.

A uniquely impact-led fashion event, the keynote will be given by Renew Europe MEP Catharina Rinzema, followed by an expert panel talk moderated by Elizabeth Kuiper, Associate Director of the European Policy Centre & DEPLOY Brussels Brand Ambassador with eminent speakers including:

Marie-Hélène Pradines, Head of Unit, DG GROW, European Commission

Emily Macintosh, Textile Policy Officer, European Environmental Bureau

Elena Lai, Secretary General, European Textile Services Association

Dr Bernice Pan, Founder & Creative Director @ DEPLOY, International Lecturer

The urgent need to accelerate structural change into a more sustainable fashion system is well documented in the EU’s Green Deal for the textile-fashion industries, recognising the critical importance for a cross-border, multilateral approach to make a real and collective impact (1) and meet the net-zero target of 2050.

Yet on the current trajectory of a global annual output of 100bn garments (largely consumed by advanced economies), where 60% arrive in landfill or incinerators within a year and a mere 1% of it is recycled, an accumulated amount of 1.7 trillion garments waste would be generated by 2050 (2).

DEPLOY Founder & Creative Director, Dr. Bernice Pan, says; ‘We are proud to partner with FIPRA International to create this new European forum for policy and practice to coalesce and generate an action-led agenda with real and immediate effect. Our long-term mission, set from our founding in 2006 to make a difference, one garment and one person at a time, proves that sustainability and prosperity are two sides of the same coin. This is about taking action as individuals, communities, businesses, and institutions to accelerate systemic change critically needed for our future safely, swiftly and widely’.

FIPRA’s Head of Green Transition, Dororthée Coucharriere, says: ‘We are delighted to collaborate with DEPLOY as part of our Green Transition agenda that drives the vital coalition between private and public sectors for sustainability. We’re also excited to support DEPLOY’s mission with a sustainable fashion showcase, providing a fresh approach to the communication and exchange for vital policies that impact all businesses and individuals’.

DEPLOY is donating 10% of its March revenues to Women for Women International Ukraine Conflict Fund, a charity dedicated to the sustainable & ethical rehabilitation of survivors from war-torn regions.
