ONE Championship™ (ONE) graced the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday to celebrate its 10-year anniversary with ONE X, a massive three-part extravaganza featuring 20 bouts, including five World Title contests, two submission grappling matches, and a flyweight special rules super-fight.
In the main event, reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee powered through a rough first round to come back and defeat ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Champion Stamp Fairtex.
Lee stormed out of the gates after the opening bell, forcing Stamp on the back foot. That turned out to be a mistake, as Stamp struck her with several knees from the clinch position. A left hook to the body then had Lee reeling across the Circle as Stamp looked to finish, but the defending World Champion was able to recover and make it to the second round.
From there, it was all Angela Lee, as the Singaporean-American superstar took the Thai fighter to the mat at will, threatening with a variety of submissions. After taking Stamp’s back, Lee flattened her out and snuck an arm under the neck to force the tap.
In the co-main event, 12-time Flyweight MMA World Champion Demetrious Johnson survived a ferocious first round with ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, taking some hard shots while landing a few of his own. After getting through the Muay Thai round of this historic special rules super-fight, Johnson wasted no time in the MMA frame, closing the distance and instantly taking Rodtang’s back. On the ground, “Mighty Mouse” secured the hooks and latched onto a rear-naked choke that put “The Iron Man” to sleep.
ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes submitted #2-ranked contender Yuya Wakamatsu after a tepid start. Both fighters were reluctant to engage in the first two rounds, obviously wary of each other’s strengths. Action finally picked up in the third as both fighters gained a sense of urgency. After an ill-advised shot from Wakamatsu, Moraes saw an opening and capitalized on it, securing a tight guillotine choke. With Moraes’ arm firmly under the neck, Wakamatsu had no choice but to tap.
