Detectives are continuing to appeal for any information or witnesses that will help in the investigation of a man’s death in Stretton in the early hours of Saturday morning (11 December).
Police were called to a house on Bridgeside, Stretton at around 1:35am following a report of a stabbing. A man, believed to be 19 years of age, was treated at the scene with serious injuries but died a short while later despite the best efforts of medical staff.
The deceased man is yet to be formally identified. Specially-trained officers are working with and supporting the family at this difficult time.
A post mortem to help establish the cause of death will take place today.
Officers have been working with colleagues from Derbyshire Police to complete property searches in the Derby area and have made two arrests overnight. An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl from Derby have both been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning at this time.
A scene remains at the address in Stretton for further forensic enquiries and increased neighbourhood patrols will continue to be in the area to provide reassurance and to assist with evidence gathering.
